Gulf oil well spewing more oil than thought, US largest spill ever

Experts say that Gulf oil well is spilling more oil than originally estimated.

Scientists reviewing the damaged British Petroleum oil well are now saying that the leak is possibly five times worse than originally thought.

U.S. Geologival Survey Director Dr. Marcia McNutt, leader of a special team put together to estimate the volume of oil spewing from the ocean floor, says the well is leaking at least 504,000 gallons a day.  Others put the estimate at 798,000 gallons.

The leak was caused when an off-shore oil rig exploded April 20, 2010.
